A while back I went on a search for an affordable and effective face scrub. I love the idea of exfoliating my skin and rinsing away the dull surface skin cells. I tried a few over the counter products, but I was never really satisfied with how my skin felt and of course I am not a big fan of spending money on something I don’t love.

So I started plundering around the house and doing some research.

I ended up with a fabulous scrub that can double as a mask. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and really see and feel a difference in my skin. I love it so much that I want to share the simple recipe with you!

(be sure to read why this scrub is beneficial for your skin under the recipe)

There are so many benefits of honey, brown sugar and oats to our skin.

Honey is a natural antibiotic. It contains an antimicrobial agent that can help prohibit the growth of certain bacteria. Honey can also help treat acne while gently moisturizing the skin. When exposed to air honey will naturally absorbed the moisture from the air. It will help keep your skin hydrated and fresh and may also help with any acne scarring. Honey is also a source of anti-oxidants which can pull free radicals from the skin and help tissue to rejuvenate and stay soft and supple.

Brown Sugar is a great source of gentle abrasion for the skin. because of its molasses content, brown sugar is also a source of topical vitamin B. An article posted in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology stated that vitamin B can actually help prevent and reverse the negative effect from UV rays!

Using oats on skin can help reduce irritation and redness from conditions such as itchiness, dryness, oiliness, and eczema. Adding oats to the scrub provides an extra soother and skin calmer.

I would love to hear your feedback if you try this scrub. Do you have a favorite natural scrub that you swear by? Feel free to share it!
