😉 No little Izzy is not here yet… any day now!
As if I didn’t have enough wonderful things going on in my life, I have decided to throw one more ball into the air. Last night I was searching and searching for some good professional resources for my Doula business; specifically paperwork, contracts, labor and birth logs etc. I found a few decent items that I could tweak to fit what I needed, but at the end of the night I was left feeling a bit disappointed at the lack of good resources for Doulas.
If you are a Doula, you know that we don’t get into this business to make a ton of money. It is fulfilling in other ways; like being a part of a miracle, seeing a new life created before your eyes and being there to support some of the strongest women in the world! It is amazing to literally be a part of someones family and a high privilege to be invited to join them in such an intimate moment. I often say that the hardest part of my job is the walk back to my car when the birth is over; so so hard to leave!
Anyways… back to resources…
The bottom line is: it is so nice to have good resources, advice, support etc at a good price… or even better, free!
So like all 9 month pregnant women, I stayed awake in bed last night thinking about things that needed to be done. I kept thinking over and over that pretty much any other profession has some kind of page on the internet with tons of like minded people that create an awesome community. A community where ideas are shared, photos are liked, resources are passed around and support is given. I believe, with out a shadow of doubt, that birth workers NEED and DESIRE this kind of support.
So, my new baby was born this morning. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you:
I am so excited to share with you a Face Book page for Doulas by Doulas. A place specifically for birth workers to share stories, tips, resources, emotions, photos and so much more! I can’t wait to watch it grow with the help of all of the wonderful Doulas out there! In time I anticipate this Face Book page being the answer to most of those late night searches that keep birth workers up at night.
If you feel you have anything to contribute to this wonderful community, please feel free to let me know, or go on over to Doula Support and post it on YOUR wall 🙂
Thanks for you time,
